Aircraft Museums. All you troops that venture south down 1-75. Just south of Macon Ga is Warner Robins and at Robins AFB they have a super museum. I had the pleasure of a base tour a few years ago. I was most interested as I was stationed there 1952-53. Only saw a couple of buildings that I reconized. The museum is really something to see. General Bob Scott, pilot in the AVG and author of the book "God is My Co-Pilot" had a lot to do with the museum. While I was there I had a chance to meet him However he has since passed away. But I highly recommend the time to see it. Also if you go down I-95 at Pooler Georgia is the "Mighty Eight Museum" this is also a must see

looking at the list of attendees, it looks like it is decreasing in numbers..Gus, I don't see you on the list?????.The wife and I will be there, and then on to Boston and Philly. Going to spend about three weeks on the road, seeing the sites before we get to old. We saw the Pima museum, when we in Tuscon last Sept. It was woth seeing it. Highly re commended. The bone yard was kind of a bust. The bus was restricted from ma ny areas for some reason. We weren't able to see many of the old b irds, tho we were told they have chopped alot of them up

Welcome Col. Silvia, why not stay in touch, your comments will be well received. You say you were at Plattsburg? An old B-47 guy I email was there in the early 60s through the last B-47 to be shipped out to the graveyard and beyond, still lives up there. Ben, I would love to get out there if only the wife would let me. This year she is letting me go to the reunion, hope you make it.

Came here to SAFB site to remember dad - SAFB Class of 52' (Flight 1711 * 3651 BMTS * July 1952). Was slightly amused to see the name my dad had told us all those years was the name of his TI / DI confirmed here in print. Apparently the BMTS instructors did not change much over the years - I still remember the foul things I heard just up the road at Plattsburgh AFB in the summer of 78’ when I went through a pre-commissioning "re-blue" ing during college ROTC! The family business is still going strong with my son now a USAF Military Working Dog handler at Nellis AFB. Fifty eight years of USAF service in three generations of Airmen.

To Bill Ray, If you are looking for a great place to take pictures of aircraft, come to the Pima Air and Space Museum. We have over 300 aircraft on display and the hangars are well lite. We have many aircraft on display out side where you can get get photos and our aircraft are not roped off from the public, you can get up close and personal with them. I stop about once a month to hug the B-47. We have just put an F4 Thunderbird Phantom and an F15 Tomcat in our new hangar addition. They are still wrapped in plastic awaiting hangar finishing. Next is a T-33 used by John Wayne in the movie Jet Pilot and an F-86 chasing a Mig 15 suspended from the ceiling. We are the third largest aviation museum and we are the largest aviation museum privately funded in the world.

Since I don't live very far from the Air Force Museum I try to get there as often as possible. I went last year and couldn't believe how much had changed in just a couple of years. One change that took place I didn't like was the fact they painted the insides of the hangers black and dimmed the lights making it hard to take a decent photo. The best place to view the aircraft if you can't go there is online, and I don't think any museum, that isn't operated by the Air Force, has as many planes or the money to restore them.

I had the good fortune to visit the AF museum in Ohio with the 68th FIsqdn 5 years ago and if the New Hampshire museum is anything like it it will be well worth the visit .
