Maryland (Del-Mar-Va)

Sampson AFB veterans from the Maryland region held a reunion and organizing meeting November 7,8 and 9 2008 at the Best Western Conference Center,Westminster, Maryland. Veterans not aligned with other groups from DC, Delaware, Virginia, West Virginia, and southern Pennsylvania were also invited to attend. Those participating expressed a commitment to continue as a SAFBVA regional squadron.

A formal meeting was convened. Dick Elgin made a motion to form the Maryland Regional Squadron; it was seconded by Dick Myers. The motion passed unanimously. It was agreed that those attending this meeting would contact other veterans.

Jim Bard was nominated to serve as the first Squadron Commander; Dick Elgin was nominated to serve as the first Adjutant. There were no other nominees, both accepted.

The SAFBVA has specific guidelines to follow when operating a regional squadron; they will be followed. Initially, we will not have Squadron By-laws; we will adhere to the SAFBVA By-laws.

It was agreed that there will be no dues for squadron membership. Sufficient fees will be attached to each reunion/meeting registration to defray our cost of operations.

you do not have to be a member to participate in the Maryland Squadron, but it is strongly encouraged.
